MBOT PRESIDENT VISITS UMPSA TO EXPLORE STRATEGIC COLLABORATION IN TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
July 21, 2026 - Prof. Dato' Ts. Ir. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim bin Abdul Mutalib, President of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), paid a courtesy visit to Professor Dr. Yatimah binti Alias, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), in a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and advancing the nation's technology and technical education landscape.

The engagement marked a significant step towards enhancing the longstanding partnership between MBOT and UMPSA, with both parties exploring opportunities to drive impactful initiatives in education, professional development, and the advancement of technology-related disciplines.

Discussions centred on identifying potential areas of collaboration, particularly in computing and information technology related programmes, to ensure academic offerings remain responsive to evolving industry demands, emerging technologies, and future workforce requirements.

During the discussion, MBOT outlined new initiative which is Conversion Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in Computing and IT related programmes to Seoul Accord Recognition, aimed at providing greater opportunities for programmes that have yet to obtain MBOT accreditation and Seoul Accord recognition. The initiative is aligned with MBOT’s policy that, effective from 2027, only graduates of MBOT-accredited programmes recognised under the Seoul Accord will be eligible to register as Graduate Technologists and Professional Technologists (Ts.) in the fields of Information and Communication Technology (IT), Cyber Security Technology (CS), and Creative and Multimedia Technology (AM).

Through this engagement, MBOT and UMPSA reaffirmed their shared commitment towards nurturing a future-ready technology ecosystem and empowering the next generation of technology professionals in Malaysia.
